How Much Does a Purebred Doberman Cost?

I want to get one of these dogs but I have to buy it with my own money and about how much does the average Doberman puppy cost?

Rodeochic is right, as I used to breed Dobermans. Timberwolf just today bought a puppy from a backyard breeder, so I don’t know why she is so against buying from a reputable breeder.

They cost too much. Don’t support puppy breeders, they care more about the money than the dogs. You can find wonderful dobermans in local animal shelters and they don’t cost as much to adopt them.

Remember, that a dog that costs 1000 dollars can still die of the same problems or diseases as one that costs 60. The difference is that you are out a lot more money if that happens.

A great place to look for a doberman puppy is http://www.petfinder.com. Check it out.

We just purchased a Dobbie from a Guy in Chula Vista, Only cost us 250. But the best thing to do is Google, Shop around, find good deals. Make sure you get to meet the parents of the dogs, so that you can tell that their Purebread.

Depends on where you are at, first of all…
and what your intentions for the dog are.
If you just want a pet-try a doberman rescue.
If you want a show dog, agility dog or
a Schutzund dog; contact your local doberman
club to find a reputable breeder.
Puppies can cost anywhere from $250 and up,
depending on what your intentions are for the dog.

Dogs are not mere property to be "bought"! Why do you want to pay someone that doesn’t care about you or the dogs when there are millions of homeless animals. If you do go to a breeder there is a good chance that "your" dog that you "bought" will become just another one of those millions. Though it will be very unlikely that it will become available for adoption because it will be euthanized when you give it up because of the hardwired behavioral problems that emerge as it matures.

I used to work for a couple that bred and showed dobermans.
They charged $850 for pet quality and $1500 for show quality.

This may sound like a lot of money, but keep in mind that these dogs had excellent bloodlines, included the crop and dock and aftercare of the cropped ears. They were very well socialized and recieved all of the necessary vet care.

These people did NOT breed to make money. They actually LOST money on their dogs every year between food, vet care, stud fees (they had a stud but, did not use him for every litter) handler fees, travel expenses to and from shows, show entry fees, and toys

Yes you can get purebred dobies cheaper, but typically will come from back yard breeders who produce poor quality (and often sick and unsocialized with tempermant problems) dogs

Also, why dont you look at an online rescue, some of them are strictly doberman rescues so you have a variety to choose from in one place. Save a life!!!
